What makes us think, feel, and behave the way we do?

I'm Ziana de Bethune, a certified CBT Practitioner, Speaker, and author with a lifelong fascination with what makes us think, feel, and behave the way we do.

My work explores the intersection of psychology, neuroscience, human behaviour, and the everyday choices that quietly shape our lives.

I believe understanding yourself shouldn't require a psychology degree. It should make you more curious about yourself, more aware of what's influencing you, and more capable of choosing what happens next.

That's what you'll find here: psychology made human, useful, and sometimes surprisingly fun.  I'm rather like Spock (from Star Trek) in that respect. I like logic, I like evidence, and I want to know why Fortunately, unlike Spock, I also have a healthy appreciation for shouting, “Bam!” when I find the answer.

THERE'S USUALLY MORE GOING ON BENEATH THE SURFACE.

Why do we keep checking our phones when we don't actually want to?
Why do we procrastinate on things we genuinely want to accomplish?
Why do certain people seem to get under our skin?
Why do we sometimes do things that make absolutely no sense—even to ourselves?

Human behaviour is rarely random. There are names for many of the strange, frustrating, funny, and surprisingly predictable things we do.

There's a name for that?

You've probably noticed some of these behaviours. You just may not have known what to call them.

Curious about the psychology behind the things we do?
